Introduction. Persian Medicine 2022 explores the deep-rooted history and current state of Persian (Iranian traditional) medicine, a practice enriched by historical connections with Chinese, Graeco-Roman, and Ayurvedic medicine due to Persia’s location along the Silk Road. Persian medicine plays a significant role in Iranian health care, supported by national policies since 1996, including initiatives to integrate traditional medicine with modern medical practices. Recognized as a PhD field open to licensed medical doctors, Persian medicine education also includes advanced degrees in Traditional Pharmacy and the History of Medicine. The book, published by Iran's Office of Persian and Complementary Medicine, reflects the country's commitment to advancing and standardizing this traditional health system.
