Folk medicine is a type of therapeutic and health expertise found in all societies, civilizations and cultures, particularly the heritage and culture of the United Arab Emirates, explains Ali Al Abdan, Director of the Artistic Heritage Department at the Sharjah Heritage Institute (SHI). During the sixth episode of the "Ancestors' Workmanship" program, Al Abdan pointed out that this folk medicine ranges in treatment from simple things such as herbs and burns, to the treatment of fractures through the so-called "Riol violation," where the expert comes to the patient's feet to return the veins to their place, as well as treating the liver by taking a piece of date in the form of a liver and placing it on the abdomen and then removing it from the patient until the abdomen straightens and the pain goes away.
