The Medical College of Peru was established by Law 15173 in 1964 and brings together Peruvian doctors to promote public health, environmental preservation, and sustainable development with justice, equity, and solidarity. In 2009, the College created the Permanent Advisory Committee on Traditional, Alternative, and Complementary Medicine (CMTAC), which supports the integration, research, and legal framework of Traditional, Alternative, and Complementary Medicine (TACM) in Peru. CMTAC works to enhance health indices and build policies that empower TACM, including initiatives for education, research, and policy development in coordination with international bodies like PAHO/WHO. The Medical College's Code of Ethics includes specific guidelines for doctors to respect and integrate traditional medicine into modern health practices while ensuring patient autonomy and informed consent.
