The National University of San Marcos in Peru, founded in 1551, offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Alternative Therapies through its Faculty of Medicine. Established in 2005 and officially recognized by academic resolutions, the program provides six specializations: Medical Management, Nursing Care, Physiotherapeutic Methods, Psychological Interventions, Pharmaceutical Management and Care, and Nutrition, all within the context of Alternative Therapies. The diploma program spans 12 months, combining general and profession-specific modules, and is delivered in a semi-presential format. Core subjects include Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Peruvian Traditional Medicine, Health Promotion with TCM, Acupuncture, Phytotherapy, Homeopathy, Bioenergetics, and Reflexology. To date, over 700 healthcare professionals—70% of them physicians—have graduated from the program. Student satisfaction is high (98%), and graduates have contributed to indexed research publications and healthcare services for underserved populations, enhancing social responsibility initiatives.
