Since 2000, the Ayurveda Prema Health Foundation has offered university-level Ayurvedic Medicine courses for health professionals in Argentina, collaborating with institutions such as the Asociación Médica Argentina, Universidad del Gran Rosario, the Jamnagar Institute, and the National Academy of Ayurveda (India), with the support of the Indian and Argentine embassies. More than 6,000 students—75% of them women—have participated through in-person, hybrid, and virtual formats, drawn by Ayurveda’s holistic and self-care-centered approach. The program’s key strengths include an integrative vision that bridges conventional medicine and Ayurveda, strict adherence to national professional regulations, and strong partnerships with leading Indian institutions and diplomatic entities. Challenges, such as the language barrier, were overcome through the production of eight Spanish-language books and translations of the Charaka Samhita and Susruta Samhita. To address research gaps, initiatives such as surveying medicinal plants from the Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia in Argentina and Latin America, and the development of a university course on Ayurvedic Phytotherapy, were launched. The courses have had a profound impact, helping professionals reconnect with their vocation for healing, enhance doctor-patient communication, and broaden their therapeutic perspectives, leading to widespread acceptance and integration of Ayurveda among Argentine and Latin American health professionals.
