National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) – United States. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the National Institutes of Health, conducts and supports research on complementary health products and practices. Its mission is to determine, through rigorous scientific investigation, the fundamental science, usefulness, and safety of complementary and integrative health approaches and their roles in improving health care. NCCIH promotes the integration of evidence-based complementary therapies alongside conventional medicine, within a whole person health framework. Its five-year strategic plan focuses on advancing fundamental science, researching the integration of complementary and conventional care, promoting health and disease prevention, strengthening the research workforce, and providing objective, evidence-based information to the public and policymakers.
