The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS) of Guatemala approved the Guide to Intercultural Dialogues in Health (Ministerial Agreement No. 164-2023) to foster collaboration between the national health system and the health systems of the Maya, Garífuna, Xinka, and Mestizo/Ladino peoples. It promotes culturally relevant healthcare planning and intervention, particularly in rural areas, aligned with the Institutional Strategic Plan 2018–2023. The guide strengthens dialogue, mutual respect, and coordination between traditional health actors and public health personnel in Guatemala’s multicultural and multilingual context.
