Brazil's National Policy of Medicinal Plants and Herbal Medicines (PNPMF) provides a legal and strategic framework to ensure safe, equitable access to and rational use of medicinal plants and herbal medicines. It integrates traditional knowledge with modern healthcare practices to promote comprehensive health care and the sustainable use of biodiversity. The policy supports regulation through ANVISA and the Brazilian Pharmacopoeia, backs research and clinical studies, and offers funding to integrate herbal medicines into the Unified Health System (SUS). A key initiative is the Farmácia Viva Program (Living Pharmacies).
