In Bolivia, Traditional Ancestral Medicine is deeply rooted in regional ancestral knowledge and officially recognized under Law No. 459. The government, through the Ministry of Health and Sports and the General Directorate of Traditional Medicine, promotes its integration into the National Health System. Key initiatives include the creation of the Unique Registry of Traditional Medicine Providers (RUMETRAB), support for research, protection of ancestral practices, certification of traditional knowledge, and the development of technical regulations and intercultural healthcare standards. Bolivia also manages information systems like SISMET and maintains a Plurinational List of Natural Products (LIPAT). The overarching aim is to ensure respect, quality, and accessibility of traditional medicine services for all populations.
