Bhutan, often called "Menjong" or the Valley of Medicinal Herbs, has a long history of herbal medicine dating back to the 8th century. The Sowa Rigpa system remains central to Bhutan's healthcare, now integrated with modern medicine across 80 health centers. The Ministry of Health ensures collaboration, while Bhutan Food and Drug Authority under the Medicine act of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2003 maintain safety and efficacy. Menjong Sorig Pharmaceutical is the country's sole traditional medicine producer. Health professionals must register with Buthan Professional and Quailifications certification authority regulated under the Medical Act and Health Council of 2002.
