Bhutan has a unique healthcare system where traditional and allopathic medicine are fully integrated at all levels under one health approach. Traditional medicine regulations is under the Ministry of Health. Hospitals provide both systems alongside social services. The health workforce is unified with traditional medicine education included in university training. This integrated model was initiated by the King in the 1960s.
