Since the COVID-19 outbreak, many Ghanaians have visited a plant research center near Accra to share herbal products they believe may help treat the virus or alleviate its symptoms. Approximately 70% of Ghanaians rely on herbal remedies, and the government has begun integrating herbal practitioners into hospitals. The Center for Plant Medicine Research, inspired by a Ghanaian doctor’s visit to China in the 1960s, conducts tests on local herbs to support the fight against COVID-19. Currently, there are no specific vaccines or treatments, according to the World Health Organization.
