The PBTC is a multidisciplinary cooperative researh organization devoted to the study of correlative tumor biology and new therapies for primary CNS tumors of childhood. The National Cancer Institute established and funded a nine-institution Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium (PBTC). Each participating member institution was selected by competitive review by a NCI special study section based on their extensive experience with pediatric brain tumor clinical trials and ability to support novel correlative studies.

Objetivo:
The primary objective of the PBTC is to rapidly conduct novel phase I and II clinical evaluations of new therapeutic drugs, intrathecal agents, delivery technologies, biological therapies, and radiation treatment strategies in children age 0 - 21 years of age with primary CNS tumors.
